1.  10 Best Decisions a Woman Can Make   Pam Farrel

Farrel focuses on key decisions each of us face. The author's suggestion is to measure one's life according to God's standards rather than measuring oneself with friends, co-workers and those we don't really know.  Her writing is engaging, honest, and includes her insights with a family that struggled through alcoholism.

We’ll meet twice for this book:  Tuesday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 24.

2.  Unspoken   Francine Rivers

The love story of David and Bathsheba. This saga of power and battles fought both on the field of combat and in the human heart touches on the cost of poor choices, the need for forgiveness, and finding ultimate fulfillment.

We’ll meet twice for this book: Tuesday, July 8. and Tuesday, July 22.

1 BOOK discussed 6 ways.  Come for one discussion or all.

The Shack  – William P. Young

Mackenzie Philips' daughter has been abducted and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his "Great Sadness," Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack and walks back into his darkest nightmare. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?"

Controversy sells books. That is certainly the case for The Shack.  Read this book with an eye on doctrine and let the story entertain as you explore. Use it as a starting point to discuss the trinity, the teachings and answer difficult questions.

This book will be discussed a total of 6 times.  The author draws you into a world that will make you either love this book or hate it.  Bring a friend and your own lively discussion.

So you want to be like Christ    Charles Swindoll

Religion won't cut it! We live in a spiritual hothouse where we talk religious talk, send out religious letters, write religious pamphlets, and do religious Bible studies. It's so easy to become religious instead of godly."  Read for Tuesday, June 10.

The Journey, How to Live by Faith in an Uncertain World – Billy Graham

With insight that only comes from a life spent with God, beloved evangelist Billy Graham delivers his magnum opus, the culmination of a lifetime of experience and ministry. Grounded in daily Christian living, you'll also find practical advice on knowing God's will, making right decisions, strengthening your marriage, being a wise parent, and using your gifts to share Christ with others. No matter where you are along the journey of life, The Journey will help you make the most of it!  Read for the meeting on Tuesday, July 8.

Just Walk Across the Room – Bill Hybels

Just a few steps and a friendly hello may be all it takes to change someone's life—and their eternity! And the good news is, it has more to do with taking a genuine interest in another person and listening to their story than it does with learning evangelism tactics and techniques.  Read for the meeting on Tuesday, August 12.

ALSO, READ THE BEST SELLING BOOK EVER!

It is an interesting thought that the Bible is still the best-selling book and yet most people who own one have never read it. How many other books do people buy and not read?

There’s something compelling yet daunting about the Bible. Perhaps some people are scared of it; after all, this is a book which changes lives.

Have you read these women’s stories?

In a beauty contest, a powerful king divorced his queen and then chose Esther to be his wife. Soon after he gave his prime minister, power and authority to kill all the Jews throughout the Persian empire. To avert this catastrophe Queen Esther must approach the king, uninvited, to beg for their lives…and hers.  (Read the book of Esther in the Bible)

On a birthday held by Herod Antipas, Salome "came in and danced, and pleased Herod".  John the Baptist, at that time a prisoner in the dungeons underneath the castle, was at her request beheaded by order of Herod, and his head given to the damsel in a charger.  (Mark 6:14-29)

How about Lydia, a "seller of purple," (Acts 16:14,15); Abigail who showed prudence and delicate management for her husband's life (1 Sam. 25); and Deborah, the wise judge (Judges 4 & 5).
