Dear Central Friends,

On April 30 - May 4, Brian Mulder, a prospective Family Life Center Director, will be visiting Central.  Brian is currently a missionary with Malachi Ministries, a group that specializes in ministry to the youth of United States military families stationed in Germany.  We are excited about the visit of Brian and his wife, Chrissy.  They have two children, Jeremiah who is two and Noel who is nearly one.

In the last two months Brian coordinated an evangelistic European tour of a Christian musical group that resulted in more than 1,000 kids making a commitment to Christ.  Brian is currently leading 200 kids on a mission trip in Poland.  He has a definite call to evangelism and cares deeply about people and their relationship to Christ.  He currently supervises a group of several Malachi Ministries missionaries.

The Search Committee believes that the process and subsequent discussions with Brian have been ordained by the Holy Spirit.  After much prayer, discussion and feedback from our Adult Communities, staff and others we decided to do a search that included contact with several colleges and universities, including Bethel, and several church staffing sites on the Internet.  Thirty initial applications resulted in fifteen complete applications that the Search Committee considered.  In mid-December, the committee screened the applications down to six candidates who were then interviewed via telephone in January.  During the month of January two candidates were invited to meet with the Search Committee for personal interviews.

Brian was in Sioux Falls the last week of January.  His interviews with the Search Committee and the Ministry Staff were incredibly exciting.  Brian’s call is to a multi-aged ministry that empowers people to know Jesus as their Savior and provides experiences that will bring non-believers into a relationship with Christ.

The reality is that Brian wasn’t looking for a position.  He was scanning a website and noticed our job posting.  Growing up in Renville, MN, he was struck by the unique blend of ministry envisioned for the Family Life Center and liked the idea of living closer to home.  In a former position at Wayzata Free Church in the Twin Cities, Brian served in a triple role working with youth, scheduling all the events for the church and caring for the facility.  He enjoyed the blend of personal ministry with administrative ministry and was attracted to the variety in the Family Life Center job description.

The Search Committee has been diligent and careful in the application, screening and interviewing process.  We have checked references with former colleagues at Malachi Ministries and Wayzata Free Church, one of whom was a former Student Ministries Intern at Central.  The reference checks were excellent.

We know you will want to get to know Brian, hear more about his experiences and learn about his heart for the Lord and his passion for ministry.  Please join us at one of the meetings listed on the back of this letter.   The Search Committee believes God has someone special in mind for Central and is bringing Brian to us from Kaiserlautern, Germany as a prospective Family Life Center Director.  We praise the name of Jesus and look forward to our weekend with Brian and Chrissy Mulder.

With Glory to God,

Bob Kiner

Search Committee Chair
