Whether at church, school, business or home, you are leading everyday. Leadership takes perseverance, dedication and a commitment to stretch your mind, expand your heart and use your God-given gifts to impact your world in real and powerful ways.

What is The Leadership Summit?  Here is a brief history...

The Leadership Summit is an outreach of the Willow Creek Association, and is broadcast live via satellite from the Willow Creek Community Church campus in South Barrington, Illinois. These two organizations share a history and a unified commitment to raising the value of leadership in local churches worldwide—helping to found and grow The Leadership Summit, which will reach more than 100,000 Christ-following leaders this year.

The Leadership Summit was launched in 1995 after Bill Hybels approached the WCA leadership team with a new vision. Both the WCCC and the WCA had continued to grow—and Bill was often speaking and traveling to other churches around the world. During this time, he began to see a common denominator in churches and organizations that were having positive impact—the influence of a dedicated, envisioned, and learning leader. To help raise the value of the gift of spiritual leadership detailed in Romans 12:8, he proposed and convened the first annual Leadership Summit gathering with a group of just over 2,000 church leaders.

Today WCCC has more than 20,000 weekend attenders at five locations in the Chicago area, and a 7,000-seat auditorium on its South Barrington campus. This venue is ideal to host The Leadership Summit, which has grown exponentially each year. Now broadcast live to 130 cities in the U.S. and Canada, the Global Leadership Summit is videocast each fall in an additional 200 cities around the world, including India, Egypt, and Russia. Firmly dedicated to leadership development for the sake of the local church, the Summit is founded on the core belief and vision that when you change a church leader, you can change a church. When you change a church, you can change a community. And when numbers of churches are working together to change their community, you can affect a region, a city, a state, a country, and eventually the world for Christ’s sake.
